How to Play
A guide to every game mode in Forged in Trivia.
General
Do I need an account?
No. Just enter a display name and you're ready to play. Nothing is stored beyond your current session.
How do I join a room?
Click "Join Room" and enter the room code shared by the host. You can also follow a direct invite link that fills the code automatically.
How many players can join?
Most modes support any number of players. Practice mode will not be a visible option if the game type does not support it.
What are the answer modes?
Multiple Choice gives you four options to pick from. Type Answer requires you to type the answer (close spellings are accepted). Mixed randomly uses both formats in the same game. Note that some questions may be multiple choice only, even in Mixed mode.
Trivia Chaos
Spin the wheel, embrace the mayhem
Every round, the active spinner lands on a wheel segment that changes the scoring rules entirely. No two rounds play the same — expect duels, double-or-nothing gambles, visual debuffs, and more.
How it works
- 1Players take turns as the spinner, rotating through a shuffled order each question.
- 2The spinner has 10 seconds to spin the wheel. If they don't, it spins automatically.
- 3The wheel lands on a segment — Regular, Double or Nothing, Red Herring, Duel, or Chaos — and the effect is revealed.
- 4A question is shown to all players (or just the dueling pair) with a timer.
- 5Scores change according to the active segment's rules. The game ends when all questions are exhausted.
Tips
- ›Double or Nothing: if you're unsure, use the Pass option to skip the risk and score 0 instead of losing half your points.
- ›Red Herring: the red herring player is revealed only after scoring — watch for who looks nervous.
- ›Duel: wager a low amount when you're unsure of the question. There's no penalty for wagering 0.
- ›Chaos debuffs are cosmetic — they warp the screen but the correct answer is still there.
Elimination
Three strikes and you're out
Everyone starts with three lives. Every wrong answer costs you one. Lose all three and you're eliminated. No one is safe — the last player standing wins.
How it works
- 1All players start the game with 3 lives displayed next to their name.
- 2Questions are shown to all players simultaneously with a timer.
- 3A wrong answer (or no answer before time runs out) removes one life.
- 4When you reach 0 lives, you're eliminated and can watch the rest play out.
- 5The last surviving player wins. If multiple players survive all questions, the one with the most lives wins.
Tips
- ›Don't rush — a wrong answer is worse than a slow one.
- ›Guess strategically on multiple choice questions if you're down to one life.
- ›Keep an eye on other players' life counts — knowing who's vulnerable changes your mindset.
Bluff Trivia
Hot-seat bluffing and social deduction
One player at a time is in the hot seat. They answer a question in secret — and only they know if their answer is right or wrong. The rest of the table votes: do they Trust the answer, or call the Bluff?
How it works
- 1A random player is selected as the answerer and sees the question.
- 2They submit their answer before the timer runs out — right or wrong, only they know.
- 3All other players have 15 seconds to vote: Trust (you believe the answer) or Bluff (you think they're wrong). Voting closes early once everyone has responded.
- 4The correct answer is revealed. If the answerer was right, they and all trusters each earn a point; bluff callers lose a point. If wrong, bluff callers each earn a point; trusters score nothing.
- 5If the answerer was wrong and at least one player called bluff, the first bluff caller becomes the next answerer. Otherwise a random different player is chosen.
Tips
- ›Calling bluff correctly earns you the hot seat next round — use it to stay in control.
- ›Even if you know the right answer, sometimes acting uncertain throws off voters.
- ›Wrong bluff calls cost you a point, so pick your moments — don't cry bluff on every round.
Double Down
Wager your points before each question
You start with a set of wager chips. Before each question is revealed, you must bet one of them. Nail the answer and you double the wager. Get it wrong and you lose it. Each chip value can only be used once — plan your bets wisely.
How it works
- 1Each player begins with a fixed pool of wager chips (e.g. 1×, 2×, 3×...).
- 2Before the question is shown, pick a chip to wager on this question.
- 3The question is revealed and everyone answers within the time limit.
- 4Correct answer: earn double your wagered chip's value. Wrong: lose it.
- 5Once a chip value is used, it's gone. Your total score is tallied at the end.
Tips
- ›Save high-value chips for categories you're confident in.
- ›Low-stakes chips are great for questions that feel risky.
- ›Since everyone uses each value once, variance is built in — any round can be a comeback.
Time Trial
Race the clock, not the room
Everyone races through the same pool of questions at their own pace against a shared countdown. Answer as many as you can before time runs out. Wrong answers hit you with a 3-second penalty — accuracy matters as much as speed.
How it works
- 1The host starts the game and a shared countdown begins (default: 60 seconds).
- 2Each player works through questions independently — your pace is your own.
- 3Answer correctly to move to the next question immediately.
- 4Answer incorrectly to see the right answer and sit out a 3-second penalty before continuing.
- 5When the clock hits zero, scores are tallied. Most correct answers wins.
Tips
- ›Wrong answers cost time twice — the penalty plus the time you spent on a bad guess. Confident skips beat slow guesses.
- ›If you're on a roll, don't peek at others' scores mid-round — it breaks your flow.
- ›On text-answer questions, close spellings count — don't overthink the exact wording.
Trivia
Classic simultaneous trivia
The classic format. Every player answers each question at the same time. Score points for correct answers — the player with the most points when the questions run out wins.
How it works
- 1The host creates a room and configures category, difficulty, and number of questions.
- 2Once everyone has joined the lobby, the host starts the game.
- 3Each question is displayed with a countdown timer. Select or type your answer before time runs out.
- 4After each question, correct answers and player scores are revealed.
- 5The player with the highest score at the end wins.
Tips
- ›Faster correct answers may earn bonus points — don't second-guess yourself too long.
- ›Choose a focused category to make it a true test of knowledge in one area.
- ›Practice Mode lets you play solo to sharpen your skills before a group session.
